Purpose
This qualification is intended for experienced people who work in the kitchen or bathroom

The compulsory section of the qualification covers the knowledge and skills related to
applying marketing concepts, managing project time, analysing and applying lighting and
technology requirements, analysing and applying surface material and construction
requirements, applying styles and themes, producing and presenting developed designs,
recording information and producing design calculations, applying the principles and
elements of design, and designing a kitchen or bathroom to meet special needs.
The elective section of the qualification enables candidates to select unit standards from
the Project Management, Systems and Resources Management, Product Design,
Professional Practice in Design and Construction Consultancy, and Hospitality
Management domains that suit their job roles.
Whilst this qualification does not specifically lead on to any other national qualifications, it
may be a pathway to other design or joinery qualifications, for example the National

Reviewed standards that continue to recognise the same overall outcome are registered as new versions
and retain their identification number (ID). Any version of a standard with the same ID may be used to meet
qualification requirements that list the ID and/or that specify the past or current classification of the standard.
