Language Arts Reflection Writing is an important part of life. Almost everything involves writing. If nobody knew how to write the world would be changed forever. Without writing there would be no books, movies, or TV. There would be no street signs so the streets would be dangerous. This year in Language Arts I learned that in order to write a good essay you need to notice things in your world and create a bold statement. For example I wrote an essay about pet turtles. I wrote about them because I have two turtles, and I realized that they make good pets. Another important skill is organizing your writing. In my essay about turtles making good pets I divided it into sections. The first section was an introduction, the second was about what they eat, the third section was cleaning, and the fourth was where you can get them and the cost. In order to write a good essay you also need to write clear topic sentences. In the essay I wrote this year each of the sections I wrote had clear topic sentences. For example each of the sections had an opening sentence that talked about what was in the paragraph. This year with everything I have learned I believe I have improved as a writer. I believe this because last year I hated writing because I wasn’t very good at it. Last year my longest piece was two pages and now I have a nine page story. The writing skill that I do the best is creating bold statements. The writing skill I need to improve is using connections.
