MR. JIM GIBSON (IRELAND)
JUDGING EXPERIENCE: Approved to judge Gundog Group 7 & 8 All Gundogs, CACIB & CAC with the
IKC under FCI Rules & Regulations. Field Trial Judge Section 5 (Hunt, Point & Retrieve Breeds).
ACHIEVEMENTS: When growing up, I always wanted to be to be involved with dogs. It was only in my
adult life that it become possible for me to be in the position to own a Gundog. The Weimaraner & German
Shorthaired Pointer appealed to our lifestyle, so in 1987 my wife and I bought our first Weimaraner & not
long after that, the German Shorthaired Pointer followed. We established our affix ‘Zilverein’ in 1988 with
the Kennel Club.
Throughout my association with the Weimaraner, I have endeavored to produce sound examples of the
breed. Zilverein Weimaraners’ achievements I believe are indicative of my knowledge of the Breed
Standard, interpretation of construction and traits of the Weimaraner. I have proactively sought to widen
the gene pool in Ireland by introducing bloodlines from the USA and Australia to the Zilverein kennel.
Over the years our kennel has achieved success in the show ring and the field for us and others. I have
bred and campaigned All Breed Best in Show winners, Specialty Winners and Group Winners in Ireland. In
England we have campaigned and bred Champion Stake Winner, Puppy Stake Winner & Challenge
Certificate Winners. In the early 90’s I campaigned our first Weimaraner to his English & Irish titles. I also
owned and campaigned the first and only Weimaraner to date, to hold the titles of American, Irish, English
& International CIB CIE Champion title.
I am also proactively involved in Field Trials and hunting. I bred a German Pointer Field Trial Champion
who was top HPR Field Trial Winner for three years in a row. I have also successfully bred and
campaigned German Pointer Open & Novice Field Trial winners. Our kennel has also attained the Gundog
Qualifying Certificate in the field with seven Weimaraners and the only kennel to win 4 th in Novice Field
Trial with a Weimaraner in Ireland.
INVOLVEMENT WITH CLUBS: I currently hold the position of Secretary and Field Trial Secretary with The
Weimaraner Club of Ireland. I have also held the position of Treasurer with The German Pointer Club of
Ireland.

When Mellow came to us from Divani Kennels in Sydney we didn’t know what to call her. She had a yellow collar on and so
Mellow Yellow came to mind; it kind of stuck and so Mellow it was. She was, and still is, hardly what you would call Mellow more
Live Wire than anything. She is a very loving dog who only wants to please.
In the showring she did very well obtaining her Championship with ease picking up many In Group & In Show wins on the way.
She was not what I would call a dog that loved to be in the ring she would rather be on the bed or the couch.

Dobbie joined our family in September 2007. I had wanted a Weimaraner for many years and here he was finally!
He settled into our hearts, home and routine with ease and became the Companion I had always hoped for!
Dobbie has a quiet, calm and gentle nature that has earnt him the nickname “The Gentle Giant”.
We began obedience training together and moved through the grading process steadily progressing to Grade 4.
Unfortunately shift- work challenges began to encroach on our obedience classes which was very disappointing as we both
enjoyed this time together.
Showing was suggested as an alternative and Dobbie entered his first show at the age of 3.5 years of age.
He has constantly represented his breed well having received favorable critiques at Local, Interstate and National levels.
In February 2011 Dobbie sired his first litter, within this litter One Australian Champion & One Grand Australian Champion (LH)
have been produced. He is our Foundation dog for our kennel and a wonderful companion in every way, we love him very much!!

Carrie is one of our Showdog of a Lifetime! Talk about loving the ring! Carrie has won two “Silver Dogs” at the NSW
Weimaraner Club Specialties, multiple Best In Show Specialty winner, multiple Group, runner up in Groups and class in Group

Carrie is a Weimaraner through and through. She is Noble, Fearless and has Movement which exhibits soundness and

Carrie has many stories to tell but most famously was her 11 day “camping trip” Bear Grylls style in the Wombat Forest. It was a

Mr. Booms as he is known is a dog everyone loves, everyone should own a Boomer. He gets on well with everyone, is social
with other dogs, loves children, never forgets anyone who brings a girl to visit, doesn’t do very much wrong but has one pet hate
in life and that is baby puppies, he just cannot cope with them being in his face.
Boomer came to us in 2005 from the famous Nani’s kennels in America and soon made his presence felt in the showring. He has
achieved many BIS awards both at All Breeds and Specialty levels and loved his tracking where he gained his Tracking
Championship he also gained his Junior Hunter title before leaving the US. He is one of the few Supreme Champions in this
country and won this title with ease.
As a stud dog he has excelled passing on his wonderful temperament to his progeny. He has produced multiple Champions in
the US & Canada, multiple Champions in Europe where his frozen semen has been used extensively and produced multiple BIS
winners plus many Champions throughout Australia who have excelled in the showring.
This wonderful dog is very much loved in this household and by everyone who knows him.

show title very easily at 13 months of age, with wins in strong metropolitan and country competition under local and international
judges.
Skye was Graded ‘Excellent’ at the 2005 Nationals. After a couple of very traumatic years attempting motherhood, Skye finally
produced her one and only live litter of two gorgeous babies, sired by “Boomer” in 2007.
A very happy, bossy and spirited girl, with the cheekiest smile, Skye could easily spend all day getting her belly tickles and
tummy rubs. A dreadful thief, with a genetic habit of opening cupboards and seeing what goodies she can find, Skye will steal
anything that looks edible, hence the locks on our kitchen cupboards.
Her favorite person in the world is Chris and she is never too far from his side. Skye looks forward to doing her disappearing act
on her early morning runs to the river with her daughter Bree, grand-daughter Bindi & great grand-daughter Chardy.

A Show title and a Novice Retrieving title is indicative of the beauty and the brains of Greta. She has been a strong influence
in many lovely litters and has been able to instil an instinct for Weimaraners to work in the field.
Some of her descendents grace the show ring, some have proven to be great sires and three have carried on her hunting
tradition by achieving Novice and Restricted titles in Non Slip Retrieving. Greta worked a season with a dedicated quail hunter in
her younger years. She was exceptional but her handler found that keeping up with her ‘finds’ exhausting as she was not inclined
to slow down. Her enthusiasm over-ran her patience to wait for the gun.
That enthusiasm is still evident today as a 13 year old. Greta still covers much territory in search for scents of foxes or rabbits.
A life time of good health and super fitness sees her today still a very mobile older dog.

Millie is a true ‘all rounder’. She completed her Championship title with Multi In Group awards; she breezed through to her
Tracking Championship title and she proved herself in the Obedience ring. Millie was retired from obedience just one pass short
of her Obedience Championship title.
Millie rules the roost at home; she is in charge of Weis and the Jack Russell Terriers. She is never one to wait for her dinner,
always letting you know when it is a minute too late. She still loves her runs to the paddocks, the occasional dip in the dam and
stalking the cat and ducks. She has also recently acquired a severe case of selected hearing loss and delights in watching Gail’s
usually futile attempts at gaining her attention. Millie is very much loved by her ‘mum’ Gail and the Smith family.
