Building Local Neural Classifiers for Alarm Handling and Fault Location in Electrical Power Systems M.A.P. Rodrigues, J.C.S. Souza and M. Th. Schilling A method for power systems alarm handling and fault location is presented. The method employs artificial neural network classifiers whose inputs are alarms from relays and circuit breakers operation, while the outputs identify the faulted system component. Fault location is determined even in cases of protection system failures or in the presence of noisy data. The employed methodology is illustrated with a test system.
