Information to Predict Extreme Weather
Tropical Cyclones- Cyclones develop over
tropical waters during warmer months.
November- April.
Bushfires- Wind, temperature, humidity
and rainfall all combine to the behaviour of
bushfires. They use two types of products
to let us know when weather conditions are
dangerous. They are called Fire Weather
Warning and Total Fire Ban.
Floods- The Flood Warning Service,
provides effective flood forecasts and
warning service in each Australian
state/territory.
Strong Winds- Winds average 26 knots to
33 knots.
Storm Force- Winds average 48 knots to
63 knots
Hurricane Force- Winds average 64 knots
or more.
