ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology (ACM TIST http://tist.acm.org) Call for Papers: Special Issue on Applications of Automated Planning Editor: Yixin Chen Deadlines: March 30, 2010. Expected publication date: July/Aug, 2010. Recent years have witnessed significant advancement of the capability of automated planning technology, which greatly enhances the feasibility of deploying planning systems in real-world industrial and commercial applications. Over the past few years, automated planning technology has greatly advanced and been applied to many novel application domains such as aerospace engineering, flight control, robotics, business management, web services, manufacturing design, sensor networks, computational biology, natural language generation, and medical treatment planning, to name a few. This ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology (ACM TIST) special issue seeks articles related to all aspects of planning applications. We solicit high-quality papers on challenging research issues, theory, algorithms, techniques, systems, and methodologies for deploying and evaluating planning technology in real-world applications. We invite submissions on topics including, but not limited to: Experiences with novel applications Algorithms and heuristics Techniques to enhance scalability Engineering and practical issues in deployment Methodologies for evaluation and validation Execution and handling of environment/resource dynamics User interface, visualization, and explanation Planning and re-planning under uncertainty Integration of domain knowledge into planning systems Integration of multiple sources of information and reasoning methods Use of machine learning and data mining to aid planning Submission Guidelines Submissions due for review: March 30, 2010 Submissions should be no more than 10,000 words or 20 ACM Journal pages (counting a standard figure or table as 200 words) and should follow the magazine’s style and presentation guidelines (see http://tist.acm.org/authors.html). To submit a manuscript, access the ACM Manuscript Central System, at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tist with ‘Special Issue: Automated Planning’ as the manuscript type. All submissions will be peer reviewed and the results will be notified in June, 2010. Questions? Contact Guest Editor Yixin Chen (chen@cse.wustl.edu)
