Fun for kids on the short film planet
Whether it is creating a musical score for the
Minions feature film, making films manually or
watching the best short films together – the
kids and youth visiting the 29th Filmwinter
Stuttgart – Festival for Expanded Media will
definitely not be bored. The Film and Media
Festival taking place next year from 14 to 17
January
2016
under
the
motto
“Shape
Shifters” offers an exciting programme for
children and youth with workshops, short
films, guided tours through the Expanded
Media exhibition accompanying the festival
and a programme for school classes for which
one can already get registered! The registry
deadline for the school class programmes is
30 October 2015.
Filmwinter – Fit for School
Each year, the Filmwinter Stuttgart organises
special programmes for school classes. Findings
from the short film planet can be marvelled at
during an exciting short film tour through the world
and stories of moving images for pupils aged 8 or
14 on Thursday, 14 January 2016 – followed by
the workshop “Flicker Box” where the classes can
explore experiments. For this we will offer an
introductory course for teachers on 26 November
2015. The Filmwinter Stuttgart – Festival for
Expanded Media also offers individually compiled
programmes and guided tours for school classes
– just contact us!

Filmwinter – watch and be amazed
In the programme “Harvest 2016 – Kult”, the
Filmwinter Stuttgart – Festival for Expanded
Media has got a whole bag of new short films for
children aged 6 years and older on Sunday, 17
January 2016.
What is Media Art? What do they mean by Net
Art? What has technology to do with art? During
guided tours for families through the Expanded
Media exhibition, which is part of the festival and
located at Kunstbezirk, art educators will answer
questions on 16 and 17 January as well as on 24
January 2016.
Filmwinter workshops
What would the sinking of the Titanic sound like if
you created the score? When the Minions blow
Napoleon up in the air - how would you compose
the music to accompany this? In the workshop
“My ear on the picture”, children aged 10 years
and
older
can
experiment
on
live
sound
recordings for a film with the musician and
filmmaker Andreas Gogol. Together they can
explore how the effect of the film changes through
improvised sounds and noises. Bring your own
instruments, every-day and found objects to
create the most astonishing sounds!
We are surfing, liking, and use apps and QR
codes – new technologies have been expanding
the reality of our lives for long. On 16 January
2016,
Evelyn
Hriberšek
will
explore
future
scenarios of „Augmented Realities“ with young
people aged 16 and older.
On the same day, everyone interested can
construct a chilling light effect device made out of
a vinyl disc and LEDs for cosy winter nights in the
workshop “Chill Beamer”, followed by a test of
what was built in the presentation “Seeing with
Vinyl”.

On Sunday, 17 January 2016, Anja Dornieden
and Juan David Gonzáles Monroy will glue, paint
and assemble film strips of a special kind,
demonstrating how you can make films without a
camera in the workshop „Handmade Films“.
