Scored a hat-trick on his full debut for Southampton against Arsenal as a 17-year-old in 1988.

Premiership Golden Boot Winner 1994/95 (34), 1995/96 (31) & 1996/97 (25)
Awarded Barclaycard Merit Award on 20 April 2002 for reaching the 200 Premiership goal landmark.
Awarded Barclaycard Award on 23 Nov 2002 for being first player to score 100 Prem goals for two clubs.
Won Premiership Player of the Month Award on four occasions: November 1994/95 with Blackburn,
September 1998/99, December 2002 and October 2003 with Newcastle.
Voted North East Player of Year for 2001/02 and 2002/03 also scored North East Goal of the Season
2001/02 (versus Aston Villa) and 2002/03 (versus Everton)
Won Premiership Goal of the Month for December 2002 (versus Everton at St. James’ Park).
Awarded the OBE for services to Association Football in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in June 2001 to
go with the Freedom of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne that was bestowed upon him in March 2001.
Goal against Manchester City on 18 January 2003 (10.25 seconds) equalled record of fasted ever
Premiership goal and fastest ever United goal (Jackie Milburn in November 1947).
Scored first Champions League Hat-Trick against Bayer Leverkusen on 26 February 2003 at St. James’ Park.
A brace against Inter Milan on 11 March took him level with 1920s goal scoring legend Hughie Gallacher in
terms of United career goals (143) and goal at Charlton on 15 March saw him overtake him to secure third
place in the all time United goalscoring charts.
Won the Newcastle Sports Personality of the Year Award for 2002 at an awards ceremony at Newcastle
Civic Centre on 17 March 2003, Shearer had previously won the award in 1997.
Named Domestic and Overall Player of the Year in the FAPL 10 Seasons Awards in April 2003, selected in
the overall team of the decade, received an award for being the Premier League’s leading goalscorer and
also named as the winner of the Award Outstanding Contribution to the FA Premier League, the equivalent
of a lifetime achievement award.
Shearer has also finished either top scorer or joint top scorer for his club in each of the past 12 seasons,
covering spells at Southampton, Blackburn and Newcastle United.
Goal against Southampton on 4 October 2003, his 250th in top flight league football, saw him join six other
players who have reached this milestone in English football.
Has scored more goals (7) in European Championship Final Tournaments than any other England player.
