Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
If you call outside of those hours, we will return your call within the next business day.
AVLF provides legal counsel for the direct representation of qualified families who are
concerned that their child may not be receiving the special education that is demanded by law.
For example, in the event that a family believes that their child should be evaluated to determine
whether they may take advantage of special education opportunities, but the school system
disagrees and refuses to evaluate the child, AVLF's lawyers will counsel the family,
communicate and negotiate with the school system and, if necessary, will litigate the matter on
behalf of the child. As well, for a child already eligible for services, disagreement between the
family and the school system about whether education services that are offered are appropriate
may generate the same legal services.

Georgia Legal Services Program is a law firm which serves people with low incomes. The
Program provides free legal assistance to Georgians who live outside the five county metro
Atlanta area.
Each office has lawyers, paralegals and other staff who know how to help low-income people
resolve their legal problems.
Georgia Legal Services handles civil (non-criminal) cases. Housing, health care, public benefits,
family, work and school-related issues are examples of the kinds of problems we address. Check
with your local Georgia Legal Services office to learn about the kinds of cases it handles.

Ombudsman Program.
If you are a resident of one of these five counties, you may apply for legal aid by calling the
office for your county. It is always best to call before you visit; intake hours are limited.
TeamChild Atlanta
Education cases (such as school discipline, rights of homeless children, and special education
placement) make up the bulk of the work of TeamChild lawyers.
For intake, call the office for your county of residence.
