AMHE PEDIATRIC SECTION REPORT This report will highlight the activities of this recently founded and recognized Section of the AMHE during the years 2009 and 2010 YEAR 2009. During 2009, under the sponsorship of the AMHE Medical Relief Mission Task Force, members of the pediatric section, at their own expense, volunteered their time to offer assistance to the Haitian pediatric population. MEMBERS PARTICIPANTS: Drs Mario Saint Laurent, Micheline Dole, Carole Dubuche, Nicole Prudent Patrick Leblanc, Louisdon Pierre, Myriam Germain, Herold Duroseau Pierre Leger and Wiener Leblanc. TARGETTED INSTITUTIONS: General Hospital: HUEH Hopital Espoir Hopital Diquini HIGHTLIGHT OF ACTIVITIES: The nature of their activities during their stay in Haiti were: NON MEDICAL: Donating and delivering medical supplies, equipment and medications based on a need assessment of the different institutions conducted before the participants’ departure to Haiti with the Pediatric Chief of Service (HUEH) and the medical administrator of the Espoir and Diquini hospitals. MEDICAL DIRECT PATIENT CARE: In the Clinic: delivering primary care to the patients attending the pediatric clinic. In the In-Patient Service: Participating in teaching rounds with the resident and attending staff (Medecins de service) EDUCATION/ TRAINING Dr. Patrick Leblanc: Neonatologist Neonatal Resuscitation Nasal CPAP Infant Intubation Dr. Louisdon Pierre: Pediatric Intensive Care Specialist Basic CPR Pediatric Advanced Life Support ( PALS) MOTION FRANCE/ HRDF/AMHE: French and French Haitian Physicians Course in Emergency Medicine Trauma/Accidents Advanced CPR/ ALS Course attended by Third Year Pediatric Resident and Chief Resident.
