NEXT COLLABORATIVE PLANNING DAY – March 12th
Any boys in grades 9-11 that played basketball this year
please meet in the weight room on Tuesday at lunch.
Thank you to the Pen High PAC for the 2 additional microwaves
in our common area. This now gives our students 4 microwaves
to heat up their lunches and snacks!
WRESTLING: Congratulations to Alyssa Kroeker for placing
2nd in her weight class at Provincials in Prince George this past
weekend.
Attention Grade 12’s: Local Scholarship and Bursary Meeting
If:

you plan to attend a full-time post-secondary program next
year
•
you have reasonable marks
•
you need money
Please attend a meeting on Tuesday March 4th at 1:00 pm sharp
in the Old Shatford Library to learn about Local Scholarships and
Bursaries. Information and Application forms will be distributed at
this meeting. There are awards available for wide variety of postsecondary programs.

Attention all Senior and Junior Boys interested in playing
rugby. Practice this week will be on Tuesday March 4th and
Wednesday March 5th. Both practices are afterschool in the
Gym.
Sr. Girls Soccer – all grade 9-12 girls interested in playing
soccer for Pen-High this spring please come to an important
meeting Tuesday, March 4th, at lunch in room 119. If you
cannot be there for the meeting please see Mr. Grant.
JUNIOR SPRING DANCE – Tickets are still available! $5 each
at the accounting office. Cut off Wednesday at noon!
Attention Grads:
Although every Pen High Grad has had the opportunity to
complete their grad ceremony write up during their English or
Communications class, over 100 Grads have not done so. YOU
KNOW WHO YOU ARE!
If you happen to be one of these unfortunate souls, you risk
having your grad write up completed for you.
Please avoid disaster and see Mr. Guy or Ms. Rigby at the office
this week.
Attention All Grad Committee Members: There will be an
important meeting Wednesday, March 5th at lunch in room 119
(Mr. Mend’s Room). See you there!!

Europe trip 2015 Rome, Tuscany, the Riviera and Paris
Europe is waiting for you! If you have decided that you will be
going to Europe during Spring Break 2015, please submit your
application to Mr. Zablotney with your check for $99.00 before the
end of February. The first 8 applications become eligible for a
scholarship of $800.00.

SOCIAL MEDIA & SCHOLARSHIPS
Many college or university scholarship committees use facebook
and other social media sites to research applicants. Make sure
your social media profiles are appropriate for others to see. You
could use your sites to your advantage by posting items that
highlight your special interests and accomplishments through
pictures. For example: humanitarian trip photos, photos of you
receiving an award, etc.
Okanagan College Entrance Awards
Students who plan to attend OC should check out all of their
Entrance Awards! Information about criteria and award
applications are available at the link provided, and are due on
March 7th.

RE/MAX of Western Canada 2014 Quest for Excellence
Bursary Program
The Quest for Excellence Program is a bursary program for grade
12 students in Western Canada. It was established by RE/MAX of
Western Canada to recognize the success and ongoing pursuits
of Western Canadian students in regards to leadership and
community contribution initiatives. Each year, RE/MAX will award
16 bursaries of $1,000 each totaling $16,000 in Western Canada.

Keep Canada Green Online Scholarship Contest (offered by
Gaspard - the company from whom we rent our grad gowns) Ten
$1000 Scholarships available; deadline to enter is April 11.

COFI Council of Forest Industries Scholarships 2014
Ten $1000.00 entrance scholarships will be offered each fall to
students planning to attend, for the first time, any one of the ten
post-secondary educational institutions in the interior of BC
enrolling in professional, technical or trades studies leading to a
career in the forest sector. Students must be attending one of ten
specific institutions, so please look at the eligibility carefully.
