The one day course covers care of patients with a variety of pulmonary pathologies: pulmonary hypertension, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, lung transplant, and asthma. The course will also cover pulmonary function interpretation and pulmonary rehabilitation-related billing practices. Objectives: The participant will be able to: 1. Define pulmonary hypertension (PH) and discuss the updated PH clinical classification and treatment goals. 2. Understand the pathology of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and new treatment options. 3. Discuss the considerations for prescribing exercise for patients with PH and IPF. 4. Describe lung transplantation, including pre-transplant evaluation/selection, post-transplant risks and care coordination. 5. Understand the indications for and benefits of bronchial thermoplasty for severe, persistent asthma. 6. Review pulmonary function test (PFT) interpretation and identify proper pulmonary rehab-related billing codes based on diagnosis and PFTs. 7. Discuss the new six minute walk test guidelines, physical activity monitoring, and Medicare Advantage plans.
