Greenwich Hospital announces Under the Stars pediatric event
March 13, 2014 (Greenwich, CT) – Greenwich Hospital will hold its Under the Stars event on
Friday, July 11 at Riverside Yacht Club from 7 pm to 11:30 pm. This popular summer fundraiser
will benefit the hospital’s smallest and most vulnerable patients who need the services of the
hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Department. Greenwich residents
Brooke Bremer, Lauren O’Malley and Jessica Reardon, RN, are serving as co-chairs.
A casual, mid-summer event, Under the Stars is expected to draw more than 400 guests from
Fairfield and Westchester counties. Under a canopy of evening stars, attendees will enjoy
cocktails, dinner and dancing to live music against the scenic backdrop of the Long Island
Sound. The evening will also feature an exciting array of silent, live and wine auction items.
This will be the third year that Reardon, an emergency nurse at the hospital, has served as cochair. “Under the Stars is a fun, casual party that helps children. I see firsthand how the
proceeds make a difference in patient care.”
On this festive occasion, Greenwich Hospital will honor Sue Brown, RN, MSN, senior vice
president, Patient Care Services and chief nursing officer for her years of dedication to
Greenwich Hospital. Brown has spent much of her career caring for new mothers and their
children and was instrumental in first establishing the NICU and Perinatology departments at the
hospital.
For co-chair O’Malley, who is heading this committee for the second year, supporting infant and
child services is a cause close to her heart. “I delivered my son at Greenwich Hospital and I
want to be sure that the high level of care I experienced is there for every family,” she explains.
Health services to children from birth through 21 years are provided by Greenwich Hospital on
more than 20,000 occasions each year. The staff in the Pediatric Department includes
pediatricians, medical specialists, nutritionists, therapists, psychologists and other experts who
deliver a full range of inpatient and outpatient programs. The NICU provides round-the-clock
care for infants as young as 27 gestational weeks from a highly trained team of neonatologists,
neonatal nurses and nurse practitioners. The unit is equipped with the latest lifesaving
technology to give struggling infants their greatest chance for a healthy outcome.
“Greenwich Hospital provides vital, cutting edge healthcare services to our community. It’s
critical that we unite in our support to keep it on the forefront of medicine and to maintain and
expand its proven record of excellence,” says first-time co-chair Bremer.
Tickets for Under the Stars are available at varying levels of support: Benefactor tickets at
