2. Media Expenditure
Motion 3: That Students’ Council approve the following expenditure from the
Media Department Budget:
- $4,500 from budget line Printing to print the election lift-out in Farrago.
- $1,000 from budget line Events for the Edition 6 launch and the Above
Water launch function.
- $550 from budget line Workshops for Above Water at the Melbourne
Writers’ Festival.
- $902 from budget line Conferences for the flights of the four Media Offices
to the National Young Writers’ Festival in Newcastle.

3. VCASA Expenditure
Motion 4: That Students’ Council approves the following expenditure from the
VCASA Department Budget:
- $700 on photocopying at UMSU from budget line Photocopying.
- $850 from budget line Special Projects for the purchase of two
37mm badge makers.
- Up to $1,000 from budget line Grants to be spent on costs related to
getting the 3rd year VCA show Eastern Standard Time produced for Brisbane.
-$46.85 from budget line Special Projects to reimburse Ali Hogg for
materials bought for VCASA working bee for the August 20 rally.

4. Badgemaker – UMSU Admin
Motion 5: That Students’ Council approve up to $400 from budget line Whole
of Union for the purchase of a new badge maker, which is to be used by all
UMSU departments, as well as being available to clubs and societies.

5. Diversity Week
PROCEDURAL MOTION: That Standing Orders be suspended for Goldie
Pergl to address the meeting.

UMSU has received a $10,000 grant from the university to run grants and
activities during Diversity Week. It would be good if the OSC could pass the
very basic budget as below. We received 45 applications for grants, and
funded 42 out of the 45.
Diversity Week Budget:
Grants: $7250
Movie Night and Promotions: $2750
TOTAL: $10,000
Motion 6: To approve the Budget of Diversity Week 2013 as above.
