The Patriot
Stars & Stripes
Spectacular
October 18, 2008
Dear Oral Interpretation Coach:
We are pleased to invite you to our 17th Annual The Patriot Stars and Stripes Spectacular at
Lincoln High School! This year we will continue to have a semi-final round to the
competition as well as finals! This should prove to be a wonderful way to see more students
compete in a fourth round and walk away with an award without much change to the
tournament schedule. Finalists will compete a total of five rounds like last year, and all
individual finalists will take home a trophy! In addition to the school sweepstakes trophies,
we will also award one student an individual “Star of the Spectacular” sweepstakes trophy
as we have done in the past.
ENTRIES
Each school may enter an unlimited number of contestants in the seven divisions.
However, no student may be entered in more than two divisions.
** Entries should be received by 4:00 PM Tuesday, October 14th. **
RULES
South Dakota High School Activity Association rules will govern this contest.

through the final round.
AWARDS
All individual finalists (top 6 in each event) will receive their “stars” with being
awarded trophies. Reader’s Theatres will receive one trophy for the group and
medals for each individual. All individual semi-finalists (7th – 12th places) will receive
their “stripes” with being awarded medals for reaching the semi-final round.
Sweepstakes awards will be presented to the top two “AA” and “A” schools.
Sweepstakes points will be earned by a school’s best two entries in each event.
