FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK:
This school year has been the busiest, most challenging, and yet the most rewarding year for all of
us at Delrey. I want to express to the staff my deepest appreciation for their hard work before,
during and after the move. I also want to thank the parents for their patience and support. The
consolidated programs in the new building have resulted in better use of staff time and resources.
We will continue to provide the high quality comprehensive services to meet our students’ intensive
educational, therapeutic and medical needs. Have a pleasant, brief break. I look forward to seeing
all students and staff in early July.
MAYFAIR/STROLL N ROLL:
This year’s Mayfair and Stroll N Roll was a huge success! We had a beautiful day even though the
weather prediction called for rain. 50 people participated in our 1st One-Mile Stroll N Roll and
participants raised a total of $4,800 in pledges. A prize went to Will Clements who collected the
most pledges. Will collected over $1,200 in pledges! Congratulations Will! Thank you to
everyone who made a pledge for a participant in the Stroll N Roll.
Congratulations to Jerry Bieler, winner of the 50/50 raffle. Jerry and the Delrey School each
received $970.
Entertainment was provided by Mark “The Magician” Waddell. Musical entertainment was
provided by Four and O, Fiddlin Around, and Double Play. The children enjoyed face painting and
games.
This year we also had our own Flower Sale. Thanks to Ann Augustin and her husband, Ken, who
picked up the flowers and delivered them to Delrey School. Thanks also to Amy Woodard from
Cedar Lane School for selling the flowers to us at a great price. We raised almost $400 from the
Flower Sale.

FROM THE NURSING DEPARTMENT:
As we enter the summer months of the year, the nursing department wanted to
send out some key points to remember for students who are fed enterally (who
have gastrostomy or jejunostomy tubes).
1) To clean the tube site and the opening in the skin, you need soap and
water.
Wash gently around the tube to remove any drainage and/or
crusting. Dry the area completely. This should be done daily.
2) Do not use ointments around the tube site unless your doctor has directed
you to.
3) Flushing the tube with 3-10 ml of water before and after tube feedings
and medications, or at least every 8 hours, should be done to help keep
the tube from becoming clogged.
The doctor may order more water than
this for hydration.
4) It is important to know the type and size tube your child has. A backup
tube of the correct size and type should be given to the school’s nursing
department so that we can replace it if for any reason it comes out
during school hours.

5) The tube needs to be replaced every three months.
If it is left in
longer than this, it can lead to infection. Call your doctor if you have
questions about this.

Discovery Toys, please log onto the website on the flyer.
