Meeting of professional women in Ecuador Under the slogan “Construction, environment and development with equality”, we held the II Iberoamerican Encounter of Women Engineers, Architects and Surveyors in Ecuador, with the participation of the countries of Ecuador, Peru, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Bolivia, Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia, Cuba and Dominican Republic. The activity was held from November 23rd. to the 26th., at the Convention Center of the “Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja”, in Ecuador. The topics analyzed at the Encounter were population and housing in Latin America, water resources and development, Latin American mega constructions, and science and technology. According to Eng. Dora Salazar, from the Costa Rican delegation, we were able to consolidate information networks about the topics dealt with, as well as promote professional strength among the groups of women engineers who have participated in former Encounters. The need to establish links between the professionals emerged from this Iberoamerican Encounter of Women Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (EIMIAA, acronym in Spanish). These links shall be established in order to share experiences and technical and scientific investigations, among countries which due to their social, cultural, educational and customary origin are quite similar. This at the same time enables readopting theories, ideas, hypothesis and investigations which have been previously established and be able to promote them with specific adaptations based on specific characteristics of each region.
