Our school got together for a noble cause yesterday. It was the organization of a blood donation camp in our school. The camp was held to help in the Assembly Hall of our school. Our principal was the first one to donate blood. He also told the students about the importance and benefits of blood donation. Our teachers also did not stay back. A team of doctors checked the blood group of each and every student of the school. We all came to know what our blood group was. All those who donated blood were given tea or coffee and biscuits. All the donors were also awarded a certificate. The team of doctors thanked our principal and teachers for their co-operation. Everyone appreciated our school for being a part of a noble cause. Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body. Last Sunday, some of my friends and I had a chance to visit the Book Fair. It was held in the Town Hall. It was jointly organized by the Central Library and the Sahitya Parishad. There were different stalls. There were pictures, charts and maps in the stalls. There were various types of books. There were CDs for nursery rhymes and other poems. I bought one CD. The Book Fair was a spectacle to watch. Many publishing houses were participating. They had displayed a variety of books which continued the wealth of knowledge and experience. I bought some books by V. S. Naipaul, a Nobel Prize Winner. In the afternoon, we felt somewhat tired. We relieved our fatigue by having tea and snacks at a stall nearby. I was pleased to see that most of the visitors were young boys and girls. Even small children were enthusiastically reading books. One of my friends settled for Harry Potter. I bought a book of short stories for my younger brother. We returned home happy and contented. On 31st January, the Annual Prize distribution of our school was held in the assembly hall of our school. There was a competition of patriot songs before the prize distribution. A well-known freedom fighter was the Chief Guest in the function. The function began at 10 a.m. after the flag salutation programme held on our school compound. I was the anchor of the programme. There was an item of the song performance between the distribution programme. The prizes were given to the students and girls according to their merit in various fields. It was given looking into the whole performance during the year. There was a clapping when I announced the winners' name and the Chief Guest gave the award to the winners. Mr. Darsh Desai was awarded the Best Student of the year. He gave a good speech on the duty of true citizen. Miss Kalpana Jadeja was awarded the Best Sportswoman of the year. She gave a speech on the importance of the sports and game in the life. At the end of the function, our Chief Guest addressed us and described his memorable events of the freedom struggle. He appreciated our achievements and congratulated us for those achievements. I thanked the Chief Guest. I also thanked the Principal, teachers and all the students for being present in the function. The programme was ended after the singing of the national anthem. A health check up camp was organized in your school. The Gujarat Government organized a health check up camp for two days on last Saturday and Sunday. It was organized in my school campus. The purpose of organizing the camp was to make the pupils aware of their health. A team of well-known physicians attended the camp. The District Health Officer inaugurated the camp. The doctors examined the pupils one by one. They diagnosed all weaknesses and illnesses of the pupils. They checked the eyes, lungs, functioning of heart and other parts of body. Some pupils took eye problems. Some were having anemic problems. The pupils were given medicines. Their parents were informed about their physical weaknesses. The camp was a great success. The parents praised the efforts of the doctor. The principal of the school thanked the doctors for their valuable services to the school pupils. Our school Sports Day was celebrated with great joy on December 3, 2010. It was celebrated on the school sports ground. It began at 8.00 a.m. with the official announcement from the principal. First of all, our sports teacher wished us 'Best of Luck'. There were many events. Each class had one event of its own. Apart from that some students were selected from each class for the march-past and yogasanas. The school band played beautiful music and it added to our enthusiasm. There were also interclass events like long jump, high jump, 100 metre race etc. Our sports teacher had planned all the events. All the other teachers of the school were also on the ground to help him. There were some games for the parents also. Some students showed some great performance and broke the past records of the school. Finally, all the winners were given medals and certificates by our principal.
