MDI TECHNIQUE

Prime your inhaler before 1st use, if dropped and after non daily use per inhaler directions

Always stand when using your inhaler

Remove cap from MDI and spacer/chamber

Visually check spacer/chamber/tubing and MDI for foreign objects

Shake inhaler well before each use and keep count of puffs used

Attach inhaler to spacer/chamber/tubing (replace when necessary)

Place thumb under MDI and index or middle finger on top of canister and press firmly on canister to release
1 spray

Take deep breath and exhale gently through mouth into room and keep head up

With use of spacer tubing, slowly start to breathe in while you press on the canister to release spray and
continue to breathe deeply and hold breath for 5-10 seconds, then breathe out slowly

With use of spacer/chamber, place mask over nose and mouth or mouthpiece into mouth and release spray
into chamber/spacer and breathe in slowly and deeply and hold breath for 5-10 seconds, then breathe out
slowly

Wait 2-5 min after 1st puff and repeat above steps for additional puffs with use of Bronchodilator

Always rinse mouth with use of steroid inhaler

Clean spacer/chamber/tubing before first use, then weekly soaking in lukewarm water with a small amount
of detergent, rinse with clean water, shake off excess water and air dry in vertical position, do not rub dry.
Also clean actuator, but remove canister first and run warm tap water through top and bottom of actuator,
shake off excess water, air dry overnight (residue that forms at exit hole may block spray)
