UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS, AUSTIN, TX
RESEARCH ASSOCIATE, 1982 - 1986
 Graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin, worked with Prof.
Jeff Kimble, Quantum-Optics
 Developed a general external cavity laser frequency stabilizer for dye
laser resulting in the world's most stable externally stabilized dye laser
(1.6 KHz RMS frequency deviation) at the time
 Laser was a factor of 500 improvement over the factory model dye laser
 The stable dye laser was developed to aid research at the Kimble Lab on
optical squeezed states and quantum optical research
 Work at the Kimble lab involved a broad application of opto-mechanical,
electro-optical, electronic and radio frequency techniques
 Developed specific RF techniques for the detection of optical squeezed
states
 At the Joint Institute for Laboratory Astrophysics (JILA) Boulder ,Co.
worked with
Prof. J. L. Hall to develop a frequency stabilized version of an Argon ion
laser
