The aim of this session is to come up with a consensus statement and clear
guidelines for your topic. Key areas for future research should be outlined.
Suggested topics for discussion are listed for each topic. Each session chairs will be
responsible for helping to write revised guidelines on the management of HDGC for
publication.
Group G: Genetics
Chairpersons: Carlos Caldas and Daniel Chung
- Requirements for genetic counselling
- Age for genetic testing
- Pre-implantation genetic testing (refer to Dr Siobhan Sengupta)
- Guidelines for screening for other cancers namely breast and colon
- The question of centres of excellence
Group S: Surgery
Chairpersons: Richard Hardwick and Jeff Norton
- When should we recommend surgery?
- What issues worry our patients and how can we address these?
- What operation should we do?
- Is there a role for minimally invasive surgery
- Who should operate?
- Should we collate outcomes centrally?
Group E: Surveillance Endoscopy
Chairpersons: Rebecca Fitzgerald and Krish Raganuth
- Suggested protocols: age of subject, number of biopsies, site of biopsies, dye
spraying, trimodal imaging, frequency, pathology processing of samples
- The question of centres of excellence for these families.
Group P: Pathology
Chairpersons: Fatima Carneiro and Han van Krieken
- Classification of microscopic foci and determination of significance
- Reporting of gastrectomy specimens
- Use of immunostaining and simple stains, e.g. mucins
- The question of centres of excellence for these families
- Questions arising on molecular pathogenesis
