The competition, which acknowledges excellence in the graphic design of museum publications, is the only national, juried event involving publications produced by museums of all kinds and sizes. “We are honored to receive these prestigious design awards from the American Association of Museums,” said Telfair director, Steven High. “Selected from hundreds of submissions, the winning publications exemplify the Telfair’s commitment to high standards and excellence on all levels, while highlighting our ability to match or exceed the achievements of other distinguished museums throughout the country.” Competing in the “Budgets above $750,000” category, the Telfair won an honorable mention for education materials produced in conjunction with its recent Dutch Utopia: American Artists in Holland, 1880-1914 exhibition, as well as an honorable mention for its member magazine Telfair. All materials were created by the museum’s in-house designer, Holly Schmidt. The competition results will be featured in a special section of the July/August 2010 issue of AAM’s national magazine, Museum.
