Title: Regulation of Bleomycin - induced Lung Epithelial Injury by p*** Interaction with the Fibrinolytic System.
Duration: 2 year
Description: The project dealt with the use of Western blotting and Immunohistochemistry to determine the expression of
uPA, uPAR, PAI***, p*** and cleaved/Total- Caspase*** in airway/alveolar epithelial cells and lung tissue sections. Flow
Cytometry and TUNEL assay to assess apoptosis. This project proves that, inhibition of bleomycin induced LEC p*** by
Colrid*** reverses suppression of uPA and uPAR, inhibits PAI*** and prevents LEC apoptosis.
Project 2 (B.E. Project)

Title: Effect of Additive on Oxygen Transfer Rate in Lab Scale Fermentor.
Duration: 4 Months
Description: This project involves the study of oxygen transfer rate in fermentor. This experiment involves the relative
effects of agitation rate and air sparging rate on KLa in distilled water. It shows that oxygen vectors and the compounds
added to growth media can enhance the oxygen transfer rate through microorganisms owing to their higher oxygen
solubilization capacity.
The aim of our work is to study the influence of n-hexadecane (oxygen vector) addition, on oxygen transfer rate in stirred
bioreactors.
1 . The effect of RPM and VVM on OTR without ingredient (n-hexadecane).
2 . The effect of RPM and VVM on OTR with ingredient (n-hexadecane).
3 . Determination of maximum OTR and studies on the effect of ingredient on growth rate of Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
