I had the opportunity to learn Cancer Cell line culture techniques in Dr Qi Chen’s Lab at Kansas
University Medical Centre, USA and participate in an experiment using Radiation and Ascorbate
in Ovarian Cancer cell lines.

Radiation Oncology team.18th October 2010 – 29th October 2010.
o Objectives: To observe Image guided External RT and Brachytherapy in Gynecological
cancers and translational research.
o Result: Observed IGRT for Gyn cancers; MRI based planning for Gyn
Brachytherapy;Prostate seed implant/volume planning/post planning;Orthotopic tumor
implants in SCID mice of cervical cancer; tour of STTAR research facility.
7. Research Internship in Radiation Gentics at Kyoto University with Prof.Takeda,
o Objectives: To study the effect and Molecular Mechanism of Concurrent Cisplatinum and
Radiation Therapy on DT40 cell lines using Reverse Genetics methods
o Result:
i. Learned skills on doing Reverse Genetics experiments on Chicken DT40 cell
lines
ii. Learned molecular lab methods like studying Cell Survival using ATP assay and
Chromosomal Break analysis.
iii. Designed and conducted a study “ Concurrent chemoradiation with Cisplatinumusing Chicken DT40 cell lines.
