THE CITADEL BOARD OF VISITORS SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES 18 AND 19 JUNE 2005 The Citadel Board of Visitors held a special meeting on campus in the Board Room, Jenkins Hall from 0800 to 1630 hours on 18 June 2005. The meeting reconvened at 0830 hours on 19 June 2005. The meetings were held in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act and were held in executive session to discuss personnel matters in connection with the selection of the next president of The Citadel and to interview presidential candidates Lieutenant General Colby M. Broadwater, USA; Lieutenant General Frank Lubutti, USMC, Retired; and Lieutenant General John W. Rosa Jr. USAF. The following Board members were present: Colonel William E. Jenkinson III, Chairman; Colonel Douglas A. Snyder, Vice Chairman; Colonel Julian G. Frasier III; Colonel Harvey M. Dick; Colonel Dudley Saleeby, Jr.; Colonel W. Henry Johnson; Colonel Allison Dean Love; Colonel Glenn D. Addison; Major General Arthur H. Baiden III; Colonel John R. Douglas; Colonel Harry B. Limehouse, Jr.; Major General Stanhope S. Spears, Adjutant General of S.C.; Colonel James E. Jones, Jr., Member Emeritus; and Colonel Leonard C. Fulghum, Jr., Member Emeritus. Also in attendance were Mr. L. William Krause, President, The Citadel Foundation on speaker phone; Mr. John R. Baker, President, The Citadel Alumni Association; and Mr. Richard L. Cook, Jr., President, The Citadel Brigadier Foundation. The following Board member was absent: Dr. Charles E. Millwood, Jr., representing Mrs. Inez M. Tenenbaum, State Superintendent of Education. Following interviews of the final three candidates, the Board returned to open session and adjourned at 1615 hours. The Board reconvened at 0830 on 19 June and following deliberation, Lieutenant General Rosa was unanimously selected the 19th President of The Citadel on the motion of Major General Arthur H. Baiden III, seconded by Colonel Allison Dean Love. Lieutenant General Rosa’s selection is subject to the approval of his release from active duty. The Board adjourned 1045 hours on 19 June 2005.
