Description
IUCN / Rockefeller Study and E-Conference on Building Climate Change Resilience for
African Livestock Systems. The World Initiative for Sustainable Pastoralism (WISP), based
in the Eastern and Southern Africa offices of IUCN, develop an African Synthesis Report on
Building Climate Change Resilience for African Livestock. This study will be developed on
the basis of two sub-regional desk review reports (Eastern Africa & West Africa respectively
– carried out by other experts), and an e-conference that will be moderated by the consultant.
The aim of the study is to develop a Scoping Study for Rockefeller that addresses the key
issues related to Climate Change and Livestock Production in Africa and which identifies
ongoing and up-coming initiatives to address the challenge.
Feasibility study and IPA project proposal. Assess the SPS border control (BIP) and
propose upgrade of the infrastructure equipment and capacities of border veterinary and
phytosanitary inspection points to bring them closer to EU standards.
Present an proposal for IPA project.
Mid term Evaluation of the “Better training for safer food in Africa” in order to assess their
preparation, conception, relevance, efficiency and effectiveness. As far as possible it will also
assess the impact and sustainability aspects. This will provide an opportunity for the project
stakeholders and coordinators, in particular EC officials, to discuss progress and, where
necessary, to adjust the programme. Recommendation for the next phases of the project must
be clearly outlined
