- 70 years after the end of the Second World War still hundreds of thousands of people die annually in war and from hunger as it’s consequences. Fifty million people worldwide are on the run. The Earth Caravan is a peace project with the aim to inspire people to advocate for a peaceful future without persecution and war. But the Earth caravan also wants to point out, where peace can be found in everyday life again and how everyone can contribute to.
An important focus is on the inter-religious and intercultural dialogue, as the religions and cultures one much more than is apparent at first glance.
The project "Earth Caravan" is therefore to be seen as a mediator between the different faiths and cultures.
The "Earth Caravan" starts from 05.07.2015 in Japan with peace events in Hiroshima, Kyoto and
Tokyo.
Then the journey continues to Europe where on 25.7. a Peace Festival will take place in Dornbirn. The journey of Earth caravan through Europe then continues via Munich and Dachau and Auschwitz to
Prague and then ends in the 31.7. in Vienna. At the individual stations or cities peace marches, peace festivals, information stands and other activities are organized, which are intended to promote interreligious and intercultural dialogue.
Especially in those places where incredible atrocities had been happening and human dignity has been lost, the organizers and participants of the Earth Caravan want to draw attention to the importance of peace, respect and appreciation between different religions and cultures. Because even today, many people suffer from the traumas, caused by war, violence and persecution.
Then the journey continues in the Middle East, in Israel and Palestine, with events in conflict-prone sites. The final will take place with an interfaith ceremony with participants from Israel and Palestine in Jerusalem.
The "Earth Caravan" brings the peace flame that burns in the visited cities since the dropping of the atomic bomb in the Peace Tower of Fukoka in Hiroshima. The light of the peace fame is a message of peace and a symbol against war, destruction and nuclear weapons.
Various religious and cultural groups are invited to join the "Earth Caravan" to give a joint statement to tolerance and lived spirituality. The attention is paid on the common and binding between religions and cultures. In Austria representatives of all faiths where won for the common dialog. All these groups take actively part in the events in Austria and in their creation.
