MY OWN PASTA CASSEROLE
GROUP 1
1 lb. lean ground beef
1/2 c. chopped onion
1. While wearing vinyl gloves, break the ground beef into small pieces and place
into a glass bowl.
2. Chop the onion and measure ½ cup. Place onion on top of the ground beef.
3. Cover the bowl with a piece of crumbled wax paper and place the bowl in the
microwave oven.
4. Microwave on HIGH (100%) for 3 minutes.
5. Carefully remove the waxed paper and break up by stirring the mixture with a
wooden spoon.
6. Re-cover and microwave on HIGH for 2 minutes longer or until all the meat is
brown.
7. Place a colander in the sink, with layers of paper towels under the colander’s
feet. Drain the fat from the meat and onion mixture in the colander. Place the
cooked meat and onion back into the glass bowl.
8. Deliver the glass bowl to the kitchen with whom you are partnered.
MY OWN PASTA CASSEROLE
GROUP 2
8 oz. dried penne pasta
1 Tbsp. salt
1. Add salt to a large pot of water.
2. Add penne to the pot once the
water comes to a rapid boil and
stir with a wooden spoon.
3. Set the kitchen timer for 12
minutes. Stir the penne
occasionally.
4. After 12 minutes, turn the burner
off. Place a colander in the sink.
5. Carefully, drain the penne into
the colander.
6. Rinse with cold water and shake
off excess water.
7. Set the colander and penne back
inside the large pot until it is
needed.
1 (14 oz.) can whole tomatoes with
juice
1 small can tomato paste
1/4 c. tomato juice
1/2 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. basil
1/2 tsp. dried oregano, crushed
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1. In a blender container, combine
the above 8 ingredients.
2. Cover and BLEND for 30
seconds (until smooth).
3. When you receive the cooked
meat and onions from the other
kitchen, add the tomato mixture
and the penne pasta to the meat
and onion mixture. Stir
everything together with a
wooden spoon.
4. Cover the bowl with wax paper.
5. Microwave on HIGH (100%) for
6 minutes.
6. Remove the glass bowl from the
microwave using oven mitts.
Carefully remove the wax paper
– do not burn yourself – steam is
extremely hot. Then stir with a
wooden spoon.
7. Divide the pasta mixture among
8 large custard cups or divide
equally between 2 Tupperware
containers.
