Barbara McPhail, Vice-chair, chaired the meeting in Peter Ortved's absence.
The meeting commenced at 6:15 p.m.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST
No conflict of interest was declared for the meeting of September 22, 2010.
CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES
Mark Warrack was not present at the meeting on August 18, 2010. The minutes were corrected to show that Mark
Robert seconded motion HT10-29.
HT10-33 ADOPTION OF MINUTES
Marta O’Brien moved, seconded by Robert Prowse that the minutes of the meeting of the Board of Heritage Toronto on August 18, 2010 be adopted as corrected with Motion HT10-29 seconded by Mark Robert.

CHAIR’S REPORT
Barbara McPhail advised the Board that this meeting is primarily a working meeting for the upcoming Heritage
Toronto Awards and William Kilbourn Memorial Lecture event on October 5 th .
COMMITTEE AND STAFF REPORTS
2 AUDIT AND FINANCE COMMITTEE
2.1 INFORMATION: Heritage Toronto 2011 Budget – approved by Executive Committee
Karen Carter distributed the 2011 budget for Heritage Toronto. Ms Carter presented the 2011 budget at the August
Board meeting. At that time she was anticipating a few adjustments to be made prior to the budget's due date at the
City. The Board agreed with the proposed budget and delegated approval (HT10-29) of the final draft to the
Executive Committee to meet the City's deadline.
HTEX10-34 APPROVAL OF HERITAGE TORONTO'S 2011 BUDGET
The Executive Committee approved the 2011 Budget as circulated during their meeting on September 14, 2010.

Karen Carter advised the Board that she recommended to the Executive Committee that Gary Miedema take on a new role at Heritage Toronto as Chief Historian and Associate Director. The Executive Committee and Board were in agreement with this decision and congratulated Dr. Miedema.
3. KILBOURN / HERITAGE TORONTO AWARDS EVENT
Karen Carter advised the Board that we have met the sponsorship goals for the Heritage Toronto Awards/William

Kilbourn Memorial Lecture event. Ms Carter also said that both the caterer, Daniel et Daniel and San Remo
Florist are confirmed .
Alexandria Pike explained the situations that were encountered this year in soliciting sponsorship for the event.
Ms Pike informed the Board that hosting at the Mayor's reception will be handled differently this year. Board members will be paired with one of the major sponsors to host them at the reception.
Nancy Luno reviewed the layout and plans for the new venue at Koerner Hall.
The event sales report was outlined for board members and they were strongly encouraged to promote ticket sales to the Mayor's Reception or the regular program.
4. CONSERVATION COMMITTEE
4.1 INFORMATION: Conservation Committee meeting minutes – September 15, 2010
Mark Warrack, Chair, Heritage Conservation Committee presented minutes from the Committee's September 15 th meeting. Mr. Warrack advised board members that the Committee is reviewing the first draft of the 2010 Heritage
Vital Signs report. This report card on heritage has been based on the community consultations carried out throughout the City of Toronto and the Mayoral Debate on heritage held on August 30th. The final report will be released at a press conference and distributed widely. As part the fulfillment of Heritage Toronto's advocacy role, the 2010 Heritage Vital Signs will be directed to Toronto politicians at all three levels of government.
Board members congratulated the Conservation Committee on the success of the Mayoral Debate in August.
Mr. Warrack also briefed Board members about plans for the 2011 Building Storeys exhibit.
HT10-35 CONSERVATION COMMITTEE MINUTES – SEPTEMBER 15, 2010
Alex Pike moved, seconded by Marta O'Brien that the Heritage Toronto Board receive the minutes from the Conservation Committee meeting held on September 15, 2010, for information.
