Solve the Optical/Copper Port Puzzle
OptoLink 1G enables network designers to use their
existing equipment…no need to upgrade to special fiber
adapters. OptoLink 1G can be matched with any of COTS’
optical patch, tap, or variable attenuation products.
An Intelligent Connection and Conversion
OptoLink 1G conversions are transparent to the devices
they are attached to such as copper based switches. IT
managers can set the parameters in their low cost Layer 2
or 3 switches and not worry about the optical link doing
anything differently. Optolink 1G monitors the power on
both the copper and optical ports to see that both
connections are in order before enabling the link. If the
only one side is connected, an error condition is created and
reported via SNMP or HTTP so the IT administrator can
remotely monitor and troubleshoot the fault.
The Diagnostic module presents a clean and simple
interface of the entire chassis and its operating parameters.

programmed

 The Receive power inside the transceiver
 Link budget alarms can be set
Additional information that is user programmable
includes password, network setup, and more.

The 1000Base-T ports on a switch or test device are connected to OptoLink 1G with the optical link managed by OptoLink 1G
OptoLink 1G can accommodate “Black and White” single wavelength SFPs, CWDM SFPs, or DWDM SFPs for up to 16 Gigabit Ethernet spans. NOTE:
16 DWDM SFPs is the maximum power consumption the 24 port box can accomodate
POINT TO POINT WITH PACKET ANALYSIS
Switches are connected via passive taps with the tap output to OptoLink 1G and on to copper based network sniffers
TRAFFIC GENERATION
A OptoLink 1G is used to convert the optical run (single fiber) to a copper based traffic generator for network analysis
