It rained yesterday night so the trench was full of dust and dirt. We started by
cleaning it. The workers are still sweeping. Then we will start digging.
We took pictures of pedestaled L4028, now we will remove it. We took a piece of
brick with a doorpost and we put a KT 4121 for it.
We opened a locus for the dirt for finding the continuation of the surface L4029.
The dirt under L4005 until the light colored wall like feature. We are approaching to that
light colored wall with trowels from L4026. We are finding a lot of lithics and interesting
stones (like flint stone) from this area. All the rocks are in interesting colors and very
beautiful so we opened a stone bag for that.
We are looking for the continuation of L4026 still, heading to East. We are
approaching L4015. The surface appears to continue in the South portion. We see that
L4015 has a potential rock alignment on the West side of L4015 which is sort of higher in
elevation than L4026. To the direct South of L4015 and under it there is a very red patch
of dirt. We also found a purposely baked clay in that area, maybe an oven piece.
We decided to screen this stuff. We also found teeth that workers think that is
human, but we are not sure. We asked to Rick and it wasn't human.
We opened the mud brick wall like feature as L4030. As we cut East to the North
of L4015 we found another potential rock alignment slightly lower in elevation and
slightly East of the one in 4015. As we cut back Southward of L4026 there is a potential
dividing rock alignment potentially separating soft dirt on the South and hard dirt on the
North.
In the North part of the L4029 we found two objects that we marked as Small
Find: One is a lithic blade and the other is a metal needle (looks like an ancient electric
wire (KT 4134, 4135).
We decided to cut the soil next to L4017 (also L4012) the part that we collected
pottery yesterday. So we can now see if it is a wall or not. We found a nice rim with
circular holes right under the rim so we gave a KT4137 for that. Bottom of the probe we
saw a lot of white speckles. Also there is ash sample there. There are some rocks at the
same level there. (this ash seems to be on top of the plaster)
In L4029 we also found a piece of shell which is very fragile at the South side of
the locus.
