Grade 1 Reading Intervention Data Dialogue Reading Intervention Teacher: Program: Fundations Level 1 Students Reading Teacher Summary of Program: The Fundations program reinforces basic skills that were learned in Kindergarten and progresses further into the study of word structure. In Units 1 and 2 so far, we have covered consonant and vowel sound review; segmenting and spelling three-sound short vowel words; sound manipulation of initial, medial, and final sounds; sentence dictation procedures; proofreading; and the study of trick words the, of, and. We take our Unit 2 test on 1/28/09. Our upcoming unit addresses consonant digraphs, use of ck at the end of words, use of the question mark, additional trick words, narrative vs. expository text, and grouping words together during reading to improve fluency. Questions/Concerns from Reading Intervention Teacher: : vowel confusion is decreasing; can tap out sounds in words; recognizes proper sentence capitalization and punctuation; occasionally reverses “b” and “d” but this is beginning to improve : takes pride in his work and takes pains to make sure it is neat; always pays attention and follows classroom routine; vowel use is improving; can tap out sounds in words easily; proofreads sentences for correct capitalization and punctuation; is still working on the use of “c” or “k” in initial sounds : works quickly and accurately and is enthusiastic in class; completes tasks confidently; relates words easily to other words (“if we change this letter we get…”); can tap out sounds in words easily; loves to participate; occasionally capitalizes words in the middle of sentences : quietly works at all times; rarely confuses vowel sounds; easily taps out sounds in words; can use words in context easily; capitalization/punctuation rarely needs editing : has just joined our group but easily follows the routine; consonant sounds are in place; can already tap out sounds for words; participates often : can tap out sounds in words; only occasionally confuses vowel sounds now; is inconsistent with the trick word “of”; is working on remembering “qu” as a team; is working on remembering correct capitalization
