Polyelectrolyte Multilayer thin films (PEM) produced by layer-by-layer dipping[1] approach
have been produced in many shapes including capsules and tubes[2,3]. These capsules and tubes
can perform autonomous motion and can be used for drug delivery, with a controlled release
mechanisms based on laser opening[4], pH, ultrasound or other effects[5]. In this talk, a new
model of PEM based molecular motor with an additional functionality is presented. The
presented molecular motor is not only able to do controlled and autonomous motion, and to
deliver drugs, it is also able to destroy surrounding cells with its controlled and triggerable
explosion. The energy for the explosion as well as for the controlled motion is delivered by an IR
laser beam. The used IR color agend are gold nanoparticles.
