ATTACHMENT F RULES FOR THE STATE FINALS The percepts of conduct for contestants are the foundation upon which the image and reputation of the Miss America program have been built and will continue to be the basis for its operation. Therefore, the Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant, Inc. board of directors has formalized the following rules that must be adhered to during the time contestants spend in Zionsville for the Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship program. 1. Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen contestants will conduct themselves at all times with the dignity, grace and good manners of young women who exemplify the integrity of American youth. 2. A contestant must observe all rules and regulations from the time of her arrival in Zionsville, until her departure. She must register by the official time set and remain until released at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday following the Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen Finals. 3. A contestant will not participate in any interview, photo session, media contact or any type of publicity unless a hostess is present. She may express her ideas and personal opinions on any subject, but has the right not to answer questions if she so chooses. 4. A contestant will not attend parties, meetings, social events or make public appearances other than those scheduled by the Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant during the state finals. 5. A contestant will not be in the company of or speak to a Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant judge except at regularly scheduled Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant events. 6. No visitors, including Directors, parents, family members and friends are allowed to visit the dressing room of a contestant at any time except move in and move out. 7. Cell phones or pagers may not be used during rehearsal or competition. 8. All contestants are expected to arrive at rehearsals on time and are not allowed to leave the school unless they have been released by a member of the production staff. Contestants are also expected to arrive at the school for competition at the time noted on their schedule. If a contestant’s conduct is deemed unsatisfactory by the Hostess Committee chair and by this conduct the image and good name of the Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant is deemed to be jeopardized, the following procedure is followed: 1. The Chair of the Hostess Committee will issue a warning to the contestant in the presence of the contestant’s hostess. If the contestant is representing a local pageant, The Local Pageant Director will be notified immediately, as will the Executive Directors of the Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen Pageant. 2. If the condition causing the warning is corrected, no further action will be taken. If not corrected, the Chair of the Hostess Committee will notify the Executive Directors of the Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen Pageant and provide all particulars regarding the infraction of the rules. The Executive Directors and the Hostess Committee Chair will meet with the contestant and Local Pageant Director (if available) to discuss the unacceptable conduct. 4. Notification of the Chair of the Judges and further action could be the result of the decision of the Executive Director and Hostess Committee Chair. 5. What a contestant does, where she goes, and how she conducts herself while in Zionsville for the Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant, are all governed, to a large degree, by rules, regulations and demanding schedules. SIGNATURE OF CONTESTANT DATE SIGNATURE OF PARENT DATE SIGNATURE OF LOCAL DIRECTOR DATE Revised 02/2015 ATTACHMENT G GUIDELINES FOR MISS INDIANA OUTSTANDING TEEN’S YEAR OF SERVICE Preparation for National Finals in Orlando Immediately following the crowning of Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen, preparations will begin for Miss America’s Outstanding Teen. Meetings will begin the Sunday following the pageant, you and your parents are required to attend this informational meeting where you will meet with MISP and schedule your preparations for your trip to Orlando in August. This is a very busy time and flexibility is appreciated to complete all the requirements leading to the National Competition. Appearances – Booking, Fees, Payments All appearances for Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen are arranged and handled solely by and through the MISP Business Manager, as her sole and exclusive agent. The parents and/or local pageant committees are not part of this process. Any individual or organization wishing to inquire or book Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen for an appearance must contact Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen’s Business Manager. During her Year of Service, Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen will be required to make all appearances in furtherance of her Platform and the MISP Program as scheduled by MISP in its sole discretion. Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen should retain her own accountant or financial advisor to handle her finances as well as to advise her regarding taxes and investments. Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen should also make arrangements with legal counsel in the event their services are needed during the Year of Service. Appearances, Meetings and Interviews – Preparation and Conduct Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen will be provided professional assistance with the development of her platform during the Year of Service. Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen shall be responsible for doing the necessary preparation for each appearance, meeting and interview. Preparation shall include, but not be limited to, reviewing all information and background material that is provided to her for review, conducting independent research when necessary, and, with respect to appearances, writing her own speeches and specifically targeting them towards the audiences that she will address. Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen shall be responsible for having a substantial and appropriate repertoire for talent performances for all of her appearances. Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen shall show up on time for all appearances, meetings and interviews. Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen shall limit cell phone use to emergency situations during appearances, meetings and interviews. Provided Services and Wardrobe Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen shall be well groomed and dress and act appropriately for all occasions. It is Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen’s responsibility to supply items she needs to complete her appearance wardrobe. MISP shall provide Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen with assistance, if available, for her competition wardrobe and alterations during the Year of Service. Initial________ Revised 02/2015 Travel, Lodging and Transportation Friends and others are not permitted to stay overnight in her room, or to accompany her at any appearances, unless approved by MISP. MISP will provide a Business Manager for Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen. The Business Manager responsibilities include advising Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen of the necessary details of her appearances, and advising her with wardrobe selection for each appearance. The Business Manager will act as Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen’s liaison with MISP in regard to her appearance and travel schedule. Miscellaneous During her Year of Service, Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen shall be a spokesperson not only for her Platform but also for MISP. Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen shall continuously educate herself and be knowledgeable about her Platform and also about MISP, its activities and programs, and specifically its scholarship program, so that she can provide accurate responses when asked. Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen will receive fan mail that MISP shall review and forward to Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen for response. During her Year of Service, Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen shall maintain contact with the MISP at all times. Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen shall notify MISP prior to any out-of-state travel which is not in connection with the performance of her obligations as Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen. Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen shall not contact MISP clients, sponsors, business partners or service providers directly at any time. During her Year of Service or at any time thereafter, Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen shall not disparage or otherwise make any unfavorable statements, oral or written, or perform any act or omission, which is detrimental to the reputation or goodwill of MISP or the Program. For purpose of the prior sentence, MISP shall mean MISP, its successors and affiliates and their officers, directors and employees. During her Year of Service, Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen is responsible for representing and marketing MISP and the Program in a manner that is designed to (1) reflect the values and standards of MISP and the Program; (2) promote and enhance the visibility of MISP and the Program; (3) protect and enhance the image, good name and broad public acceptance of MISP and the Program; and (4) increase sponsorship opportunities for MISP and the Program. I have read, I understand, and I accept the Guidelines for Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen’s Year of Service. SIGNATURE OF CONTESTANT DATE SIGNATURE OF PARENT DATE SIGNATURE OF LOCAL DIRECTOR DATE Revised 02/2015 ATTACHMENT H 2014 LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE CONTRACT FREE AGREEMENT YOUR LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE MUST BE CONTRACT FREE As a Local Executive Director, it is very important that any contract you enter into with a commercial concern must be non-competitive with the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Organization’s (MAOT) National Sponsors or Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant (MIOT) Sponsors. It must carry a clause to the effect that they cannot use the name, photograph or title of your Local Representative in any advertising before, and including the night of the State Finals. Furthermore, this clause must also stipulate that should your Local Representative become Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen, they can no longer use her name, title or photograph in any advertising unless approved by MIOT. These stipulations must be included in any contract or agreement between a business and your Local Representative, as it is consistent with your Local Titleholder’s Contestant Contract, declaring that she is contract-free. Additionally, MAOT Policy prohibits a finalist in the Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen Pageant from receiving national publicity prior to the State Pageant unless approved by MIOT and MAOT in writing.
