Team 5 You will compare African American (A) with Native American (Nuu-Chah-Nulth, B) populations. Enter Sequence Server Manage Groups Sequence sources: Modern Human mtDNA Check African American mtDNA and mtDNA, then click Ok. Uncheck the checkboxes. Click African American #1, click None, and set that window to a second representative for this same group (such as African American #2). Click Blackfoot #1, find Nuu-Chah-Nulth, and select a sample (such as Nuu-chah-Nulth #1). Underneath, click None and select a second representative for this group (such as Nuuchah-Nulth #3). In order to compare (align) the sequences for two individuals check their checkboxes. Then click COMPARE. Wait for the result page to come up (this may take a couple of minutes). Determine the number of differences between the two sequences, multiply by 100% and divide by the number nucleotides you were reasonably able to compare. This will provide you with the normalized number of differences for this alignment. Workflow: Compare two individuals for the African American group chosen (e.g. African American #2 and African American #3) Compare two individual for the Native American group chosen (e.g. Nuu-chah-Nulth #1 with Nuu-chah-Nulth #3) Compare one individual from the African American group with one individual from the Native American group (e.g. African American #3 with Nuu-chah-Nulth #1)
