Appendix A Tentative Itinerary Mainland Liaison Committee Technical Tour to Huangshan Introduction Huangshan (黄山; literally Yellow Mountain) is a mountain range in southern Anhui province in eastern China. The area is very famous for its scenic beauty, with peculiar shapes of the granite peaks, weather-shaped pine trees, and sea of clouds (雲海). The area also has hot springs and natural pools. Huangshan is a frequent subject of traditional Chinese paintings and literature. Huangshan has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990 for its exceptional natural beauty and habitat for rare and threatened species. The World Heritage Site covers a core area of 154 square kilometres and a buffer zone of 142 square kilometres. (Adapted from Wikipaedia) The Mainland Liaison Committee is organizing a technical tour to visit Huangshan and its nearby world heritage sites in late June this year.
