Deer Season Update
The deer kill through October 19th is listed below with comparisons to previous years. Remember
that these are estimates based on deer registrations by county (not necessarily deer killed) and may not
include information from all registration stations. The deer kill to date continues to lag somewhat behind
recent years for this point in the season. The next few weeks will see the either-sex portion of the archery
season end in many Wildlife Management Units around the state on October 31st (WMUs A, B, C1, C2,
D, L and M being the exceptions). Youth Hunting Weekend is scheduled for October 25th and 26th this
year. Some extra pre-season scouting may help locate areas with deer activity and provide a more
enjoyable hunt since some fall food resources are generally scarce this year. Muzzleloader season will
open on Saturday, November 1st with most Wildlife Management Units having 1 or 3 days of either-sex
hunting opportunity (WMUs L and M being the exception with 7 and 11 days respectively). The next callin will be Sunday, November 2nd with results available on Monday, November 3rd.
