Culture Cumbria European Seminar for Stakeholders, in association with Grampus
Heritage and Training Ltd.

with working with European partners and accessing Eurofunding.

Models of Good Practice :

Fashion from the Landscape, a Grampus Cultural Exchange Project. Monica
Oprean from Romania will talk about why she chose to work with Cumbria on her
project, how she developed links, and what the benefits have been.

The Ancient Woodlands of Geltsdale: Cumbria’s Cultural Landscape. Iris
Glimmerveen from Woodland Inspirations will talk about how important the
European connection has been in developing this project, and its importance for
Cumbria’s rural cultural heritage.

Theatre by the Lake/ West Cumbria Arts Partnership. Kate Whitmarsh will
speak about their successful application to the Leonardo programme to fund a fact
finding and exchange visit in Spring 2010; and their current bid into the Interreg
programme for a two way three year exchange project.

Heritage and conservation - Learning from Europe. Walter Lloyd,
Basketmaker and Coppice Products maker, outlines some of the challenges and
pitfalls of seeking European funding.

Question Time style Debate : Getting the best from the Public and Private Sector
The current squeeze on public sector funding is raising major issues about how best to
develop and deliver European funded projects. The debate will focus on how effective,
efficient and cost-effective different approaches are, or are not; how important it is to
work together and develop partnerships.
