Progetti Europei LAMORO is a development agency of North West of Italy working with
heritage valorisation and promotion.
We would like to exchange our experience with other European networks working in these
subjects, and eventually submit together a Culture 2007-2013 project.
Open Castles (Castelli Aperti)

Castelli Aperti (Open Castles) is the event coordinated by Langhe Monferrato
Roero that proposes a trip around some of the most interesting historical homes
in southern Piedmont.
An initiative that promotes awareness through guided tours of about seventy
monuments that reveal a rich artistic heritage identifying the culture, history and
traditions of a territory concentrated in the Cuneo Alpine area, the hills of Langa
and the Monferrato area of Asti and Alessandria, right to the plains towards the
river Po.
An offer of tourist itineraries that includes not only public homes and castles but
also privately-owned ones, usually inaccessible, which can therefore be visited
and rediscovered.
This splendid artistic heritage is contextually maximised through collateral events
that include plays, concerts, exhibitions and markets, events conceived to really
experience the place.
Castelli Aperti is an important initiative that involves both public and private
organisations working well together to promote the territory and to organise
activities in the tourism and culture sectors.
This collaboration activated amongst the actors of the project has become
fundamental from the viewpoint of developing the common image of a territory
that now tends towards international promotion of its identity through a significant
cultural and artistic heritage.
Langhe Monferrato Roero Countryside and Literary Park

The “Parco Paesaggistico e Letterario Langhe Monferrato Roero” (Langhe
Monferrato Roero Countryside and Literary Park) promotes the countryside and
cultural heritage of Lower Piedmont through an itinerary that integrates several
different “literary itineraries” to discover the places where some famous authors
worked and lived:
Giovanni Arpino, Vittorio Alfieri, Beppe Fenoglio, Davide Lajolo, Augusto Monti,
Cesare Pavese.
Indeed, the link between the authors and this territory combines two essential
dimensions.
The physical, in other words some literary scenarios and places, and above all
the identification, in other words the traditions, the customs and the everyday
lives.
The park directs its proposals at a diverse public, trying to differentiate and
improve the cultural offer, paying special attention to the participation of young
people.
Events conceived to combine awareness and entertainment animate the
historical villages and trails near woods and vineyards, set in a countryside that
really lends itself well to capturing the new needs for contact with nature and the
search for wellbeing expressed by increasingly wider brackets of visitors.
Within the overall project, shared and worked at by local public and private
actors, the objective to improve tourist use of the area involves creating
complementary actions like: strengthening the identity of local communities by
getting to know the heritage spread over the territory, stimulating the recovery of
traditional economic activities, conserving and improving the quality of the
environment, resolving architectonic emergencies, guaranteeing use of the
heritage and promoting quality hospitality.
