Cultural Mosaic Presentation and Storytelling Rubric
• Create a presentation over your country in Africa. The presentation must include
all components listed on the rubric (components are collected through the Cultural
Mosaic research group activity). Create a professional presentation using
appropriate pictures and colors. You must create the presentation through Prezi
(Prezi.com). You must select one folktale to share with the class and perform the
folktale through a group reading or a reader’s theatre. Pay attention to the rubric,
look back to it periodically to be sure you have included all the appropriate
components.

excellent job of
describing fully but
succintly the culture in
terms of the
components of culture.
Many of the
components are
discussed. The Prezi is
professionally created.

Ethical Use
Student group is able to
explain why they
included particular
components in the
presentation. The
group made
connections to why
they chose the folktale
and how it relates to
their country/culture.
The final presentation
is created using Prezi,
and shared with the
class. Each group
member participated in
all components of the
project, including
presentation. All
components are
completed correctly
and turned in on the
due date. The final
presentation and
storytelling is
informative and well
thought out.
Student groups
properly sited all of
their sources for
information as well as
graphics.
Student group explains
briefly why they included
particular elements, but does
not convey enough
information. The group's
explanation for including the
folktale is adequate. The
group makes simple
connections to the
country/culture.
Student group reveals
some cultural
components, but does
not explain why they
included the particular
components, nor do they
make connections to the
folktale.
The student group
only reveals basic
facts, they do not
make any
connections, nor do
they have a folktale to
connect to the
country/culture.
The final presentation is
created using Prezi, and
shared with the class.
Group participation was
not equal. Most of the
components were
completed and turned in
on time. The final
presentation and
storytelling was somewhat
informative, but was
lacking components.
The final presentation is
created using Prezi, and
shared with the class.
Group participation was
not equal. Very few of
the components are
completed. The project
was turned in on time.
The final presentation
was inadequate: lacked
many components and
connections, group was
not prepared for the
storytelling.
The final presentation
is not created through
Prezi or was not
created or was
extremely minimal in
content. Some group
members did not
participate. Majority of
components are not
completed. The
project was late. The
group did not present
to class nor did they
do the storytelling.
Student groups sited most
of their sources, including
information and graphic
sources, correctly.
Student groups left of
most citations, or did not
site them correctly.
Student groups did
not site sources.
