You should be thinking about: University courses at the most academic of universities in the future. Look at the sort of courses you are interested in before choosing your A Levels – some of these ‘Russell Group’ universities, on some courses, are interested in you getting A/A* grades in particular subjects. These academic universities will need you to get A*/A/B grades at A Level – the more A*s you get at GCSE now the better your chances of being offered a place by them! Continuing your education after A Levels at a university. You may want to look at a broad range of institutions and courses that suit your interests and aspirations. Look at the courses you might want to study before you chose your A Level subjects – for some courses several institutions may want you to have a specific subject on your CV. You may want to use your A Levels to gain employment with a firm that will offer you Professional Training at the end of Sixth Form. BTEC courses have to be taken in both Year 12 and 13 – they can’t be dropped at the end of Year 12. Keep at least 3 Level 3 courses going into Year 13. You take AS General Studies. You may continue this into Year 13 at A2 if you have attained your Target Grade at AS. You should have at least C+ grades in any of the AS Levels you choose. Looking at Further Education institutions that will offer you the chance to study for a qualification linked to a specific job.
