PART 1 While you read, keep track of 30 words you do not know. Follow these steps:

Write down the word and the page number it is on.
2.
Guess at the meaning of the word from how it is used in the sentence (context clues).
3.
Look up the word in a dictionary and write down the dictionary definition.
4.
Write your own NEW sentence using the original word. UNDERLINE or highlight word, changing word form as needed.
5.
When you have 30 words, you must do a project with 15 of them. SEE BELOW!
PART 2 Now you must take 15 of the 30 words you have collected and use them in another way.
Below are some suggestions. You may also think up your own project and clear it with me. Remember
that your project has to reveal your understanding of the meaning of your words.
POSSIBLE Vocabulary PROJECTS with your 15 words:

An ABC book where you write and illustrate the words as if it were a children’s book.

A PowerPoint presentation where you write and illustrate the words.

A creative story/poem/rap using the words
 Pictures with captions or a cartoon illustrating your words.
