INTRODUCTION The annual global campaign of mental health is celebrated at October 10th 2007. The activity is organized by World Federation of Mental Health. Since 1992, in ever\y country in the world, Government agencies, along with Non-government Organizations will participate in the annual World Mental Health Day. The Government Agency that participates and conducts activities for mental health socialization has done many efforts to public education and awareness in order to increase the better treatment for people with mental disorder and promoting mental health during life span as well as decrease any stigmatization and discrimination against mental illness that very close to exist in any societies. For this year, Dr, Radjiman Wediodiningrat (RSJ-RW) Psychiatric Hospital has conducted some activities including putting on Mental Health Day banners, radio broadcasting and presenting the campaign to hospital’s staffs. II. PURPOSE - General Purpose : Socializing the theme of World Mental Health Day to community and hospital’s staff. - Specific Purpose 1. Knowledge about Mental Health to community 2. Increase the understanding and acceptance of mental health 3. Decrease stigma and discrimination against person with mental illness. III. - OBJECTIVES Public Society Employees and staffs of the psychiatric hosptal IV. ACTIVITIES 1. Setting banners 2. Radio Broadcasting 3. Presentation about WMHD theme V. TIME AND PLACE 1. Setting two banners of WFMH theme during a month 2. Radio broadcasting a. Interactive Dialogue at Mas FM Radio held on Tuesday, October 10 th, 2007, 09.00-10.00 pm and presented by Bambang Eko Sunaryanto, MD (psychiatrist). b. Interactive Dialogue at Studio Programa 2 Indonesia Broadcasting System at Malang held on Tuesday, Oct 10th, 2007 at 07.30 – 08.30 am and presented by Bambang Eko Sunaryanto, MD (psychiatrist). 3. Presentation of WFMH topic for hospital staffs by Bambang Eko Sunaryanto,MD (psychiatris) and I Dewa Gede Basudewa, MD (psychiatrist) , held on Wednesday, Oct 10th 2007 at 10.30pm -12.15 am. The meeting is set in Arjuno Room with 75 guests consisting of structural and functionary officials, head of units, head of departments, head of installation, head of hospital wards and professional representatives. Subject matters are “The Influence of Culture Diversity in relation with Mental Health” and “The Cultural Influence during Life Span”. Presenter are The Medical Service Director of RSJ-RW and psychiatric. VI. ANALYSIS OF ACTIVITIES - Banner was set during October 2007 and we can hope that all hospital’s visitors and people around the place can read them several times. - Radio Broadcasting held on 2 radio stations which are Mas FM Malang Radio and Programa 2 Indonesia Broadcasting System get enthusiastic responses. There were many phones or sms response to the broadcast. Due to limited time (60 minutes), only six questions can be answered. VII. - - CONCLUSION Socialization of the topic that every individual has owned culture that may affect the understanding of mental health awareness and affecting his perception about medication, the way of caring for children, gender identity, family value and religiosity. RSJ-RW Psychiatric Hospital has conducted several activities in the framework of participation to socialize World Mental Health Day 2007 as the concrete attention for people with mental illness.
