Adopted 6-23-2010 HIAWATHA VALLEY EDUCATION DISTRICT POLICY 900 900 EDUCATION DISTRICT COMMUNITY RELATIONS The Hiawatha Valley Education District believes that it has a responsibility to provide a climate for good public relations, and to keep the citizens informed of decisions that are made. An open climate is conducive to effective administrative, staff, student, and community relationships. The public needs to have confidence in and understanding of its education district. Furthermore, citizens should be encouraged to participate in the decision-making process giving direction to the education district program. It is further recognized that the education district belongs to the public and that support is achieved through effective two-way communication between the education district and community. Therefore, it shall be the policy of the Education District Board to: maintain two-way communications between the District and its various publics; disseminate appropriate information to the public in a meaningful and timely manner; report student and staff achievement; interpret the curriculum to its public; interpret the budget to its public; and otherwise respond to community questions and concerns about the education district.
