KIRKLAND, WA –Studio East and StoryBook Theater have four outstanding family friendly
productions this spring. The youngest audiences, and their parents, will enjoy a touring
production of StoryBook Theater’s 55-minute musical Snow White. Elementary and middle
schoolers will love Studio East’s production of The Secret Garden. Older tweens and teens can
experience the thrill of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, and all ages will enjoy the classic
adventure tale of Peter Pan.
In Snow White, the Queen is decidedly unhappy. With Snow White in the picture, the Queen is
no longer the “most beautiful in all the land.” Hilarity ensues when poor Snow White, now
banished from the kingdom, meets the Dorf Family — 7 brothers (played by 3 silly actors.) Laugh
and sing as the Dorf brothers keep Snow White safe and out of the Queen’s way. Tickets to Snow

The Secret Garden, based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, is set in the early years of
the 20th century. It tells of 11 year-old Mary Lennox, an English girl born and raised in the British
Raj, who is orphaned by a cholera outbreak. Sent away from her home in India to England to live
with a reclusive uncle, Mary suddenly faces a very different life. With the help of a young
gardener on her uncle’s estate, Mary brings new life to a neglected garden and new love to the
lives of those around her. It is recommended for ages 9+ and has a running time of
approximately 2.5 hours. Adult tickets are $14, while students and seniors are $12. All Gala
tickets are $18. All performances are at the Studio East Mainstage Theater located at 11730
118th Ave NE in Kirkland. Performances run Mar. 15 – 24, with the following show times:

Twelfth Night is perhaps William Shakespeare’s finest comedy; a tribute to the restorative
power of love. Viola, the shipwrecked heroine, lands on the shore of Illyria and, disguised as a
page, searches for her lost brother. Countess Olivia mourns the loss of her own brother. When
the lovely Countess meets the handsome young page, desire banishes grief in this intoxicating
comedy. It is recommended for ages 9+ and has a running time of approximately 2 hours. Adult
tickets are $14, while students and seniors are $12. This show is double cast and all
performances are at the Studio East Mainstage Theater located at 11730 118th Ave NE in
Kirkland. There are just 4 performances:

Peter Pan, is the magical story about a boy who doesn’t want to grow up so he spends his life in
Neverland battling the pirates and Indians. When Peter brings the Darling children to Neverland
with him, he is finally able to defeat his foe, Captain Hook, and befriend the Indian chief. This
classic tale of adventure is recommended for ages 5+ and has a running time of approximately
2.5 hours. Adult tickets are $14, while students and seniors are $12. All Gala tickets are $18 and
available to the public in mid-May. All performances are at the Studio East Mainstage Theater
located at 11730 118th Ave NE in Kirkland. Performances run May 30 – Jun. 22, with the

About Studio East and StoryBook Theater
Studio East Training for the Performing Arts was founded in 1992 to provide theater arts
education for young people on the Eastside. It was founded on the belief that through the
performing arts children can build confidence, and acquire leadership and teamwork skills while
learning discipline, dedication and responsibility. Starting with one theater program for teens in
1992, Studio East has become one of the largest children’s theater training programs in the
Seattle area. Today, Studio East serves over 70,000 people annually with a comprehensive
program of drama classes, theater arts camps, Mainstage productions and live performances for
children from ages 3 through 19.
Studio East also produces StoryBook Theater, an adult professional touring troupe that introduces
young children to live theater at venues throughout the Puget Sound area. Studio East creates
opportunities for young people to discover and explore the performing arts.
Studio East recently received Kirkland’s CACHET Award, presented by Kirkland Mayor Joan
McBride and the Kirkland Cultural Arts Commission. Studio East, received the award for its
dedication to arts education in Kirkland’s community. CACHET stands for Collaboration of Arts,
Culture, Heritage, Education and Theatre.
