Greetings:
Thank you for participating in Renfrew County’s – The Incredible Race presented by Bell. Each dollar you earn
through pledging for this event will go to support the services offered by the Phoenix Centre for Children and
Families.
The Incredible Race will serve as a crucial fundraising component for the Phoenix Centre and we hope to make
this a premiere event in Renfrew County for years to come.
The “Incredible Race” event will be offered in 3 Renfrew County areas as follows:
Deep River, May 29, 2010
The Deep River Arena is the starting point for the Race.
Pembroke, June 12, 2010
The Pembroke Marina Amphitheatre is the starting point for the Race
Renfrew, June 26, 2010
Mateway Park is the starting point for the Race
All races will begin with registration at 8:30am on the day of the race. Shotgun start begins at 10:00 a.m.
Arrive with your bike and running shoes in time to register your team and turn in your minimum $200 pledged
contribution to the Phoenix Centre. This $200 is a minimum pledge amount that we ask you to raise to be entered
into the Race in addition to the registration fee. We encourage raising as much beyond that number as there will
be a prize awarded to the team that raises the most money and will also result in minutes being taken off your
team’s overall time. The early registration fee (received over one month before the race date) is $20 per team and
if received within a month of the race date, the fee per team is $40.

Event Overview
Volunteers Needed: 8:30am-3:00pm
Renfrew County’s – The Incredible Race is very similar in format to the popular TV show, The Amazing Race.
Teams of FOUR will compete against others, the clock, and most of all, themselves, to complete the course and
finish all their challenges in the shortest amount of time.
There will be an undisclosed number of “Check Points” to find and complete. Completing a check point will
require wit, skill, poise and/or a combination of all three. Contestants must follow clues, decipher riddles and
perform feats in order to receive the necessary direction to the next check point…and so the game continues.
There will be a GRAND PRIZE for the team coming in with the fastest time in completing all their checkpoints
and crossing the finish line. In addition, we will be awarding a prize for the team that wears the MOST
INNOVATIVE/ CREATIVE TEAM UNIFORM and the team that brings in the MOST PLEDGES.
One last word of advice…
PLEDGE DOLLARS = A REDUCTION IN OVERALL RACE TIME
**During registration, your pledge dollars over the $200 minimum pledge will be used to reduce your overall time
by up to a total of 10 minutes. Therefore, the money you generate with pledge dollars will directly impact your
chances of winning…start collecting!
The only item you really need to bring is your BIKE*. There will be limited bikes available for loan for those
participants requiring one and can be requested upon registration. We suggest you dress for the weather (we race
rain or shine) --- be warm and comfortable and you’ll have a lot more fun! A carry bag or back pack of some sort
would be handy. Cell phones are fair game… you may want one to call a friend for help…(just a suggestion).

*Participants under 18 years of age are required to wear helmets. All participants must abide by City By-laws governing the use
of a bicycle.
**Shotgun start will begin at 10am. Please allow 4 hours to complete race. Teams will be assigned a start time according to order
of registration. All teams must be registered before 10am. Registration commences at 8:30am.

Once the registration fee is paid to the Phoenix Centre, teams will be given their pledge forms.
Applications must be delivered in person to one of these Phoenix Centre locations: 130 Pembroke St. West, 2nd
Floor, Pembroke, 12 Reichwald Cres., Petawawa, 191 Plaunt St. S.,Renfrew or Deep River Town Hall, 32 Ridge
Road, Deep River. You can call 613-735-2374 for Centre hours. All applicants must be at least 12 years of age or
older as of race date. Teams will be required to raise a minimum amount of $200.00. Limited spaces are
available. First come, first serve.
