Description:
This Leadership class serves all students on the SJVA campus. The goal of this class is to promote school spirit
and pride, encourage high-standards of scholarship and citizenship, and create positive relations among
students, staff and community members. Through these goals and our daily work in here, I hope you each grow
personally as a leader.

Notebook:
You will be required to keep your work organized in a notebook. This notebook will reflect your commitment
to the class, and will be graded at the end of each month.
This notebook must be divided into six sections using dividers.

Outreach Requirements:
(Per committee) You must attend at least one Middle School Leadership Meeting per month.
 Thursday Mornings 7:00-7:40am (starting in September)
Officers/Committees:
Because student leadership is an opportunity for students to serve as leaders within the school, students will
actively partake as either an elected officer, selected commissioner, and/or committee member.
Elected Officers:
President
Responsibilities: Hold weekly meetings, organize all leadership members, organize and oversee all major
events, and attend monthly board meetings.

 Mini Relay for Life
 Prom
 Grad Nite
 Friday Fun Fest Fundraiser
Vice President
Responsibilities: Lunch time activities, assemblies, attend board meeting if president is not available, aid
president in major responsibilities.
Committees:
 Black Out Dance
 Homecoming-Court& Half Time
 Sadie Hawkins
 Multicultural Night
 Themed Competition Fundraiser
Secretary
Responsibilities: Take meeting notes, write proposals, school publicity (posters, bulletin, announcements, and
videos), and fill out agenda item and fundraising approval forms.
Committees:
 Club Rush
 Lunchtime Activities
 Homecoming-Spirit Week
 Red Ribbon Week
 Yellow Ribbon Week
 Car Wash Fundraiser
Treasurer
Responsibilities: Fundraising, ticket sales, cash verification, vendor contact.
Committees:
 Back to School Night BBQ
 Homecoming- Pep Rally
 Harvest Festival BBQ
 Class Spirit (Shirts, Competitions, etc.)
 Movie Night Fundraiser
Selected Commissioners:
Commissioner of Publicity
 Approve all posters before they go up
 Maintain HS Leadership Social Media Sites
 Maintain Bulletin Boards
 Email local newspapers
Commissioner of Public Relations
 Recognize all HS Staff & Student Birthdays
 New student/new teacher survival kits
 Organize kindness campaigns
 Anything to improve positive school culture
Although officers and committees have very specific responsibilities, all students are expected to participate in all school activities.
All students need to work a lunch time activity, a fundraising activity, and the Student Store at least once a month
