Knoxville, TN – September 9, 2013 – The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra kicks off
the Moxley Carmichael Masterworks Series and the 2013-14 season with “Eroica Trio
Plays Beethoven” on September 19 & 20. Maestro Lucas Richman conducts the
Orchestra, joined by guest artists the Eroica Trio. The concert will take place on
Thursday, September 19 and Friday, September 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Tennessee
Theatre. These performances are sponsored by Twin City Dealerships.
Musical selections include Reznicek’s Donna Diana Overture, Beethoven’s Concerto for

Wagner’s Rienzi Overture.
The Eroica Trio is made up of members Erika Nickrenz, piano; Susie Park, violin and

a highly successful Lincoln Center debut and has since toured the United States,
Europe, and Asia. While maintaining their demanding concert schedule, the Eroica Trio
has released eight critically lauded recordings for Angel/EMI Classics Records,
garnering multiple Grammy® nominations. The Eroica Trio performs the Beethoven

Orchestra, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Houston, New Jersey and Seattle.
"The audience is in for a real treat," said Lucas Richman, KSO Music Director.
"We are launching into our Masterworks Series with a Hungarian musical
sneeze, (with which Zoltan Kodaly begins his Háry János Suite) and Beethoven's
famous Triple Concerto with the ladies of the Eroica Trio. I am excited to open
the KSO's 78th Season with all the enrapturing pieces of music on this program,
including Reznicek's Donna Diana Overture and Wagner's Rienzi Overture."
Patrons can attend pre-concert chats at 6:30 p.m. in the concert hall before each
performance. Guest performers will offer their personal perspective and audience
members will have a chance for Q&A with the artists. This is a unique get-to-know-you

will also be a very special Opening Night champagne toast in the Tennessee
Theatre lobby at 7:00 p.m. All patrons are invited to enjoy complimentary
champagne and celebrate the new KSO season with the Maestro!
