“Snapshots of Nature” Photography Contest
Rules and Regulations
Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) is organizing a photo competition to celebrate International
Biodiversity Day and to promote the love and appreciation for nature and biodiversity. This
photo contest is open to all staff and members of the public. Grab a camera now and take part
to win attractive prizes!
Theme
KTPH believes in creating a healing “Hospital in a Garden” environment to facilitate the recovery
of our patients. Our gardens are nearly a year old and have already attracted a variety of
butterflies, birds, dragonflies and other species.
In conjunction with World Biodiversity Day 2011, KTPH’s Green Committee cordially invites
shutterbugs to capture “Snapshots of Nature” that celebrate the diversity of species within the
ecosystem created in the hospital.
Photos submitted should feature original close-up shots of a specific species of flora or fauna
sighted within KTPH’s compound. Species to be photographed includes but is not limited to
birds, butterflies, dragonflies, fish, flowers and plants.

Entry Submission
1. All submissions must be accompanied by the official entry form which is contained as Annex
A of this document.
2. Photos should be submitted as high resolution digital (soft copy) files on a CD-rom or DVD.
Each photographer may submit a maximum of EIGHT original photos.
3. Each digital photo file must be at least 5 megabytes, in JPEG or JPG format, and must be at
least 3,000 pixels wide (if a horizontal image) or 3,000 pixels tall (if a vertical image).
4. Entries must be submitted in colour (no black and white entries).
5. All CDs / DVDs submitted will not be returned. KTPH will not be responsible for any lost or
damaged entries.
6. Images taken on camera phones are not eligible for this competition.
7. Entry forms and CDs / DVDs may be submitted by mail to the following address or hand
delivered to the Information Counter at the KTPH lobby in a single envelope labeled “KTPH
Biodiversity Day Photo Competition”.

Reproduction of Images
9. By entering the contest, the participant agrees to allow KTPH to use the photos, with credits,
in its publicity materials and collaterals, without any fee payment.

Shortlisted entries will be displayed in a photo exhibition at the KTPH lobby from 20 May
– 3 Jun 2011.
The shortlisted entries will be judged on 20 May 2011 in the afternoon and winning
entries will be announced the same day. Participants unable to attend the judging event
will be notified by post/email.
The judges’ decision is final and no appeals will be entertained.
