Camlin United found the 4-1 score line a little flattering against Gaels United. Gaels worked hard and in goal scorer Paul Donnelly, Kevin Whitney and Danny McGee had some of the best players on view. However not for the first time Robert Clarke was superb for Camlin. U/9 League Exciting game between Melview Bulls and Castlepollard Reds. Both sides tried to play good football much to the delight of their fans. The issue was decided by a Tom Higgins strike in the first half that gives the points to the Reds. Shane Lynch and Anthony Fagan impressed for the winners. U/16 League Camlin United stay top after beating Ballymahon Colts 4-0 at Abbeycartron. With Castlepollard and Gaels United chasing this was a vital three points. David Birmingham and Noel Patton helped Camlin survive some early momentum from Ballymahon Colts. Jerry Stokes scored twice Cathal McArdle and Jim Mongan one a piece. The only game to survive on Sunday was Castlepollard Celtic v Ballymahon and after a five goal thriller it was Castlepollard who took the honours with the help of a Paddy Cheever’s hat-trick and they remain unbeaten and in second place but with a game in hand. U/13 League Ballyboro remain unbeaten after a late Diarmuid Murtagh goal give them victory over a gallant Gaels United .Colin Gannon got through a lot of use full work down the flank for Ballyboro. Ethan Connell was a hand full for the Gaels rear guard while John Mulryan was very imposing at the back for the winners. Dean Cosgrove and Ciaran Quinn were best for Gaels United. Lisryan Rovers jump off the bottom after beating Erne Valley Rovers 6-1 at Lisryan. Inspired by Eamon Higgins and Hayden O’Reilly the home side bossed the game from the start. Ciaran Mallon netted three. Liam Sullivan, Anthony O’Reilly and Mark Tully also got on the score sheet. Finnan O’Reilly got a consolation goal for Rovers. Darryl Carrigy is a striker in form. On Saturday he scored four as Ardagh United beat Castlepollard Celtic 5-2. Max Charles and Michael Daly scored for Celtic. U/11 SFAI National Irish Banks Cup Melview FC are through to the open draw and beating Dunmore Town 3-0 on Sunday last in Dunmore. On a wet and windy day Gerry Maloney’s side did all that was asked of them in becoming one of the few Longford clubs to reach the last 32? Melview attacked from the off with Liam Barry and Martynas Kalinauskas winning a lot of ball and dispatching it accurately to the front men. Patrick O’Shaughnessy didn’t have to be asked a second time when one such ball arrived at his feet. O’Shaughnessy got his and Melview’s second before the break. Kevin Maloney and Tobi doing the spade work. Dunmore came more into the game in the second half and keeper Dylan McGeoy and defender Peter Hanley came into their own.
